Online Game Development 2013-14

Online Game Development (2013/14)

Many of the rich-media games currently developed for the Internet and/or handheld devices are built using technologies such as the Flash platform and 'traditional' Web technologies (Javascript, XML, PHP, mySQL, etc.). This approach to online game development also offers a unique opportunity to market to a large population of existing Web professionals who wish to extend their current development skills into these new and growing areas.

This one-year Ontario College Graduate Certificate program is a unique offering within the Ontario college system. Students graduating from the Online Game Development program at Fanshawe College will have a portfolio that demonstrates the ability to develop a wide variety of assets for online games, as well as two or three completed games for different delivery platforms, and will be able to present a solid portfolio for pursuing employment in this industry and/or pursuing graduate certificate studies in console game development.

This program will offer numerous opportunities to explore alternative approaches to course content delivery, as well as online group seminars and classes and a unique, game-centred approach to curriculum delivery and teaching. The program will also host a professionally-designed and maintained 'Game Site' that will allow not only student and graduate portfolio presentation, but public play and rating of student games, social media interaction, etc.
